Have you ever woke up and thought, ‘I really feel like some bread with cold cuts and cucumber and a side of hard-boiled eggs and sliced tomato!’? Ya, me neither. It’s probably because we’re not from Sweden, where this is a typical breakfast meal.
Check out this BuzzFeed video that shows you what a typical breakfast looks like in a number of different countries:
The Swedes also have marinaded raw herring – yum!
I’m German and have never eaten sausage for breakfast while growing up in Germany.
We ate rolls, whole wheat bread, butter, cold cut, cheese, jam and a boiled egg for breakfast. In my hometown Hamburg we also ate yummy fish salads (pickeled fish + mayo) on bread in the morning.
UK does NOT have bacon like that for breakfast, does not have sausage, generally only serves ONE egg, and not that many fried tomatoes. Typical would be one egg, fried tomato half, fried mushrooms, baked beans, UK bacon (what the US might call Canadian bacon, more like a piece of thick fried ham,) and black pudding. Please look up black pudding if you don’t know what it is.
