By carefully merging innovative electric jet technology with the traditional benefits of surfing, a group of water enthusiasts from Germany have created the ultimate acquatic luxury toy.
More than just a surfboard, the Lampuga can travel up to 32mph using a 15-horsepower propulsion system. The first-of-its-kind electric jet propulsion engine takes only two hours to charge, and is capable of traveling up 12 miles on a full battery. According to Lampuga’s website…
“Its lightweight carbon-fibre composite construction and powerful full-electric jet drive enable it to reach high velocities, making the Lampuga as fast, agile and smooth as the marine creature which shares its name – the dolphinfish, one of the fastest fish in the world.”
The Lampuga is equipped with an accelerator throttle to control speed and a unique steering belt that allows for easy maneuvering and control.
On top of its impressive design and easy maneuverability, the board’s electric jet propulsion system is also quiet and environmentally friendly, according to Lampuga.
Measuring just over eight feet long and two-and-half feet wide, the motorized surfboard can be used for riding or as a small craft for transportation.
The Lampuga offers a variety of unique functions, but its price tag ($17,000) makes it significantly more expensive than a normal surfboard or paddle board, so we will have to wait and see what type of splash these boards make in the market.
