KFC’s New Nail Polish Is “Finger Lickin Good”

I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is… “Yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken really did make an edible nail polish that tastes like their chicken”.

The nail polish recently debuted in Hong Kong and comes in two flavors, “HOT & SPICY” and “ORIGINAL RECIPE”.

To get the flavor right, KFC had help from McCormick & Company, the same company that provides the spices for KFC’s original and spicy recipe chicken. The nail polish is made with no preservatives and is entirely edible — so unlike normal nail polish, each batch must be refrigerated and only lasts a few days, according to a spokesperson from KFC.

KFC also had a little help from marketing giant Ogilvy & Mather, who helped KFC develop their “Finger Lickin Good” nail polish campaign to remind the younger generation of “the great taste and good times the brand stands for.”

Since the campaign launched, there have been mixed reviews on the taste of the two different flavors of the nail polish. Some have all out discredited the campaign and the idea of a chicken-flavored nail polish, while others have actually said the nail polishes taste very similar to the two staple seasonings on KFC’s chicken.

But either way — a great idea or a terrible one — the campaign has brought a lot of international publicity to the brand, so KFC deserves some credit for their creativity.

KFC even unleashed a music video to encourage Hong Kong consumers to select which flavor should be mass produced. Check out the video below…
